The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has successfully reclaimed 1,094 acres of forestland valued at Rs1.3 billion from 57 influential encroachers in Sukkur.

In compliance with the order dated April 28, 2020, issued by the Sindh High Court at Sukkur in CP No. 1115/2009, which directed the NAB chairman and DG to investigate matters related to encroachment, illegal allotment, and illegal mutations of forest land in Sindh, an inquiry was authorised against officers and officials of the Forest Department in Sukkur, among others.

During the extensive inquiry, relevant records were obtained from the revenue and forest departments regarding the illegal allotment of forest land to influential individuals.

The NAB Sukkur collaborated with various federal and provincial government departments to reclaim the forest land and retrieved a total of 1,094 acres of forest land with an estimated value of Rs1,312.8 million in Taluka Nara, Sukkur district, from 57 influential individuals.

The revenue authorities have revoked the previous allotment entries made in favour of private individuals. The reclaimed forest land has now been officially recorded under the ownership of the Sindh Forest Department.
