Reviewing a decision of the Shehbaz Sharif-led government, the caretaker government has decided to make prior nod of the federal cabinet mandatory to sign any international MoUs and protocols.

However, sources said the caretaker prime minister would approve signing of international MoUs and protocols before referring the same to the cabinet. The previous government, during its last cabinet meeting on August 9, had decided that the approval of prime minister in such cases would be sufficient. However, in some cases, the summary would be sent to the cabinet. The Cabinet Division, after thoroughly looking into the matter, has recommended the caretaker government to review the decision of the last regime.The Cabinet Division also apprised all the ministries and divisions of the decision according to which approval for signing of international MoUs and protocols approval of both, the prime minister and federal cabinet, would be required.It may also be pointed out that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf also used to get approval of international MoUs and agreements through circulation from the federal cabinet.
